Being a family-owned and operated business, we’re able to offer you that personal, small-town feel you’ve been looking for in a veterinary hospital!
We are not a franchise, we are a small business based upon the simple premise of helping animals one pet at a time.
While our top priority is excellence in veterinary care for our beloved animal friends, we care equally as much about making your experiences with us just as excellent!

At Griffith Veterinary Hospital, we genuinely care about the well-being of your pets, which is why we offer a wide variety of services. We practice out-patient services, as well as a wide variety of surgery, all for small animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.). We are not a 24/7 facility; we are a family practice. If you have an animal emergency, we recommend that you seek emergency services as quickly as possible from a qualified animal emergency facility as close to your emergency as possible.

Our typical hours are:

Monday 8am-6pm
Tuesday 8am-6pm
Wednesday 8am-6pm
Thursday 8am-6pm
Friday 8am-6pm (Friday afternoon may be a relief veterinarian, call to see.)
Saturday 8am-noon (Saturdays book-up fast!)

But please call ahead to be sure, since hours may vary for holidays, etc. We want to make sure that we can be here for you, so we prefer to work by appointment whenever possible.

We are located at 240 Jennings Road, in Whitmore Lake, Michigan (which runs parallel to US-23). We are highly visible from US-23, between 6 Mile Road and Barker Road (on the WEST side of the interstate). You'll recognize us as the "log cabin on the lake", as our building is log and Wildwood Lake is outside our backyard! Google Map:

We accept cash, check, and ALL major credit cards as forms of payment. We also proudly accept Care Credit. Payment is expected at time of service. If you are interested in Care Credit, please contact us to find out more! You can also visit the following website to learn more and apply for Care Credit:

In case you're curious:
We are not affiliated with any other veterinary hospitals, although others do exist with similar names. We are the "Griffith Veterinary Hospital" that is located in Whitmore Lake, run by Barbara Griffith-Watkins.

Upcoming Closures: We will be closed on Monday, September 6th, 2021 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

"It was Summertime in..." Southeastern Michigan!

Howdy, mitten family! Have you been seeing a whole lot of ticks this year? You're sure not alone... we are currently seeing some of THE highest rates in our hospital's 35-year history! If you're using Nexgard, Seresto, or Frontline Gold... pat yourself on the back! Remember to have a "tick key" or other gadget handy to PROPERLY remove any ticks that may have imbedded in your dog. Need a hand? Give us a call, our friendly veterinary assistants and technicians will be happy to help you properly remove a tick even if our veterinarian is busy saving lives (just maybe don't ask the person mowing our lawn... we don't suggest that... or our mail carrier).   ;-)
Put that tick in a bag and tape it to your forehead to remind you to get your dog fully immunized against Lyme Disease (not really, don't do that, but... DO get the vaccine for your dog!).

Be safe and have some fun this summer!

At this time, we are still seeing patients in a curbside-only manner due to COVID-19. "Curbside" really simply means that we are escorting patients in and out of the hospital without owners entering, so you'll check-in "curbside" at our front porch. Schedule your appointment as usual on the phone (734-449-PETS), and then visit our outdoor check-in desk when you arrive in our parking lot please. If the weather prohibits our outdoor check-in area at some point, please just call us from your vehicle and we will check you in over the phone and then we will come to your vehicle to get your pet.

We will update our website as regulations change. Thank you for your understanding!
Q: If my dog is current on his Lyme vaccine, do I need to notify you if I find ticks on him?

A: The Lyme vaccine is extremely important for dogs in our state, BUT Lyme Disease is only one of many diseases that can occur as a result of a tick feeding on your dog. The longer a tick feeds on a dog, the more likely it is to transmit illness. We had a patient who developed Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever here in Michigan due to a tick, so we do prefer to hear from you if you've found a tick embedded on your dog, even just to document it on your file and answer any questions you have have.

We offer a test for Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasmosis; it is a quick blood test that we can run in our office while you wait in your vehicle.

We also sell a small metal tool called a Tick Key that can help you remove the tick properly.
