About Griffith Veterinary Hospital
Pictured above left: Dr. Barb and her long-haired Chihuahua "Chief"
Pictured above right: Dr. Barb's "Grand Kittens" "Milo" and "Marcel" sharing a snuggle ("Milo" was very sick when Dr. Barb found him; we nursed him back to health and now he's living the good life!)

Dr. Barb is our main practitioner. Unless she is out of town, ill, or in a pinch, she should be the doctor that your pet will see at our hospital. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, both in undergrad and in graduate school. She is a licensed practicing veterinarian, specializing in small-animal medicine (dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.). She has been a veterinarian for over 40 years, and she makes continuing education a priority. This hospital in Whitmore Lake is very special to her, as is each and every one of her patients! Dr. Barb is an animal lover and advocate, and she is also an active member of her community.

The rest of Dr. Barb's team includes:

  • Edie (veterinary assistant)
  • Gabrielle (veterinary assistant)
  • Kristen (veterinary assistant)
  • Lauren (pre-vet; veterinary assistant)
  • Lisa ("LVT" licensed veterinary technician)
  • Nicole ("LVT" licensed veterinary technician)
  • Rebekah (veterinary assistant)
  • Robin (veterinary assistant; certified pharmacy tech.)
  • Rose (veterinary assistant)
  • Tina (receptionist)

"Guest" Doctors:
On some days (usually Friday afternoons), you may meet
Dr. Hughes. He graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine with Dr. Barb and has been in practice over 40 years. He is a highly skilled surgeon and practices both outpatient and inpatient medicine. On rare occasions, other veterinarians may also fill-in for Dr. Barb on a temporary basis (they're called "relief veterinarians"). We will let you know which doctor you will be seeing when you schedule your appointment.

Because we are a small-business with a family atmosphere, you will see many of us performing multiple roles within the hospital. The person who answers your phone call may very well be the same person who preps your pet for examination or who helps you select a method of flea prevention! We love to get to know our clients and their pets, and we hope that you feel cared about from the moment that you first meet us... because you are!
